TEAM CANADA INSIGHTS:
ATHLETICS:

  • Camryn Rogers  (Richmond, B.C.) captured gold in women’s hammer throw for Canada’s first Olympic medal in any women’s throwing event. Her gold medal is Canada’s third ever Olympic gold in a women’s athletics event. It hasn’t happened since Amsterdam 1928 when Ethel Catherwood won the high jump and the women’s 4x100m relay won their event.
  • Following Ethan Katzberg’s gold medal on Day 9,  this is just the third time that one country has won both the men’s and women’s hammer throw at one Olympic Games. Poland did it at Tokyo 2020 and Sydney 2000.
  • Savannah Sutherland (Borden, Sask.) advanced to the women’s 400m hurdles final.

CYCLING – TRACK

  • Canada competed in its first Olympic men’s team sprint event, finishing eighth overall.

SKATEBOARD:

  • Fay De Fazio Ebert (Toronto, Ont.) became the first Canadian athlete to compete in the women’s park event at the Olympic Games, finishing in the top-20. At 14-years-old, De Fazio Ebert is Canada’s youngest Olympic team member since Montreal 1976.
