En Toronto infracciones de velocidad detectadas automáticamente por cámaras están dando resultados

REDACCION ST.-  En el mes de octubre las cámaras de control automático de velocidad captaron a 9,719 conductores que infringieron la ley. Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) emitió 9,719 papeletas a los malos conductores, esta cantidad de multas ha disminuido en un 65 por ciento en relación al mes anterior.

En el segundo mes del programa, se emitieron más de 15,000 papeletas de  velocidad, en 50 ubicaciones de la ciudad, mientras que en primer mes del programa se emitieron 22,301 multas.

Las cámaras de ASE en Gateway Boulevard cerca de Don Mills y Eglinton en North York emitieron la mayor cantidad de boletos, 955, que representaron casi el 10 por ciento de todos los boletos del período del 6 de septiembre al 6 de octubre.

Bicknell Avenue en el área de Eglinton Avenue y Keele Street vio la multa más alta entregada, $ 706 después de que un vehículo fuera atrapado viajando a 78 km / h en la zona de 30 km / h.

Las multas de ASE no incurren en ningún punto de demérito y no afectan el historial de manejo de una persona, según la Ciudad.

Los funcionarios de la ciudad dicen que los dispositivos se trasladarán a 50 nuevas ubicaciones a partir de esta semana. Si bien se han colocado letreros en las nuevas ubicaciones para notificar a los conductores, no se enviarán cartas de advertencia en lugar de multas una vez que estén en su lugar.

El alcalde John Tory dice que se siente alentado de que el programa esté funcionando, ya que menos conductores son atrapados a alta velocidad en las zonas de seguridad de la escuela y la comunidad.

“Está claro que más personas están cambiando su comportamiento al conducir y espero que al mover estos dispositivos a nuevas ubicaciones en noviembre se obtengan los mismos resultados alentadores y casi inmediatos”, dijo.
